Billboard Japan 2020 half-yearly charts published
The Japanese billboard charts have published their charts for the first half of 2020. The accumulated sales figures are for the period from 25 November 2019 to 24 May 2020. The Japanese idol group AKB48 was able to defend its 1st place in the single chart with its 57th single “Shitsuren, Arigatou”, which sold 1,423,467 copies, followed by Nogizaka46, which reached 2nd place with its 25th single “Shiawase no Hogosyoku” and 1,156,295 copies sold. Third and fourth place went to the two new Johnny’s groups SixTones and Snow Man. Hinatazaka46 reached the 5th place with their 4th single “Sonna Koto Nai yo”. The two AKB48 sister groups SKE48 with “So~Yu~Toko Aru Yo Ne?” and STU48 with “Mubou na Yume wa Sameru Koto ga Nai” follow on places seven and nine. Akimoto Yasushi reached 4th place in the category lyricist as lyricist for many songs of the AKB48 Group, the Sakamichi series and many of his other projects.
