Seijin no Hi 2021: The STU48 Frog Generation

#STU48 – Traditionally, the coming of age celebration (Seijin no Hi) is usually held in the second week of January. This year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Japanese idol groups of AKB48 Group celebrated the day separately. The Seijin no Hi ceremony for the five new adults of STU48 was held in a small setting at Gokoku Jinja in Hiroshima on 2 May 2021. Watanabe Natsuki as the eldest, when asked how she would describe this generation, explained, “From analog to digital, from mobile to smartphones, from heisei to reiwa, from 4G to 5G, from tadpoles to frogs. We are a generation that has experienced changing times. I think we are the frog generation.”
